Media

Here are my collected podcast episodes, interviews and other media appearances.

I speak about teaching, learning, mythology, poetry and nature. I can speak with the experience of 15 years working in East London schools.

On Ricardo Sierra’s ‘The Forest Educator’ podcast, we explored how I use nature - and forests in particular - as a habitat for creative learning in London, the US and in India.

This was a live-streamed lesson with three of my students, and a follow-up Q&A with Fernando Tarango from Outschool. The purpose of the live lesson was to showcase how interactive, deep and engaging online lessons can be, if we think creatively about it.

On the podcast of Dr Jo Taylor, a child and educational psychologist, we discuss the interesting ways that mythology can unlock different kinds of thinking in children’s minds. Why is it that some people - and children especially - are drawn to mythology, and why do we need it?

I shared about the need for direct experience and full contact with nature for awakening and expanding the outer and inner world of his students, which leads to inspiration, depth and courage, which are all essential for the creative arts. We also discussed our own partnership, as Ricardo and I co-facilitated a retreat in Cherry Valley, NY.

The Autism Connections

Speaking with Max J Green, we talk about the intersections of autism and education, and how school cultures do (and do not) meet the needs of neurodivergent children and adults.
