International Mythology and Poetry Retreats to Kids In 2024, I am thoroughly excited to be launching my 'Camp of Bards and Demigods' projects, internationally. In April 2024, I am running a camp at Hawk Circle Wilderness Centre, in Upstate New York. This is for children aged 10-13 and there are still places available. Further projects to be announced, including a Camp hosted on the home of Zeus, the island of Krete.
WITH SCHOOLS WORLDWIDE Each year, I spend a month teaching at Shiv Nadar School across its four campuses in India - Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Chennai. It is great to build partnerships with schools who are serious about creative joyful learning.

I run workshops in primary schools, focused on poetry and creative writing. I try to work outdoors wherever possible, using whatever spaces schools can offer. These sessions can be one-off writing workshops, or can be more sustained. I have been a Poetry Teacher in Residence one day a week at Glade Primary in Ilford, since September 2020.
Want to deepen your children's engagement with mythology, literature and self-expression? The Iliad Project is a six session bonanza of rich, immersive learning. We gain a grounding in Greek Mythology before roaring into the lively details of the Trojan War. Fully inclusive of all learners, and a unique approach which uses classical mythology as a platform on which to develop children's confidence, self-understanding and emotional literacy. Year 5 and Year 6.
Nonsense Poetry is a particular love of mine. We can get out and do some Jabberwockying, as well as exploring nonsense poetry from a range of world cultures. We can make and perform our own too. Ideal for Year 3 and Year 4.
Residential writing retreats for children?!? Can it be done? Why yes! I have been running Poetry Retreats for children in Year 5 since 2016, working with schools in East London. These four day retreats, usually led in partnership with my friend Adisa the Verbalizer, give us an opportunity for truly memorable learning, out exploring beautiful natural spaces. This works best as a visit when a number of schools collaborate, each sending a number of children and a member of staff. That way, we all get to meet new people and go to new places. Children publish their poetry at the end into a high-quality anthology.
I especially enjoy running workshops with Year 6 in order to help them prepare for Year 7. Poetry can open up a great space for reflection and nostalgia. Children produce their own poetry which they may wish to perform at Leavers Assemblies.
I can join you and your children to run a visit to the Museum of Classical Archaeology in the University of Cambridge. I will collaborate with you and the university to help you prepare a rich day of learning, which will show the children about university life, raise their academic ambitions, and also deepen their knowledge of the world.
